What sparked your interest in choosing court reporting as a profession?
Had a cousin who was enrolled in school

 

What advice would you give students or those just entering the field of Court Reporting?
Learn how to brief and phrase. It will save your arms and hands in those long jobs. Don’t be afraid to ask for breaks!!!!

What is your favorite thing about being a court reporter?
Flexible work schedule and meeting new people.

As a Court Reporter, what is your worst nightmare or biggest pet peeve?
My biggest nightmare would be driving to a job and finding out my equipment is not in the trunk of my car.

My biggest pet peeve is people who do not enunciate their words.

Where is the strangest place you have taken a deposition?
A minimum security prison. Although not a strange place, I was greeted by the same three inmates every morning while they were outside smoking!!! Talk about minimum security.

What is the funniest thing you have heard during a deposition or in the courtroom?
That would have to be a jury member snoring very loudly during a trial.

When not court reporting, how do you spend your free time?
Volunteering at an animal shelter. I also enjoy running and biking.
