Mom’s advice. Mothers always know best.
What advice would you give students or those just entering the field of Court Reporting?
1. Incorporate short answers into your answer bank. Yes, yes sir, no, no sir, correct and many more.
2. Learn your software while in school, especially hyperkeys.
What is your favorite thing about being a court reporter?
Expedites
As a Court Reporter, what is your worst nightmare or biggest pet peeve?
Testing jitters. Why do we get them?
Where is the strangest place you have taken a deposition?
The boys football locker room at a high school in Charlotte. I never knew a room could smell so bad.
What is the funniest thing you have heard during a deposition or in the courtroom?
An attorney brought her fufu service dog to our deposition in a baby stroller. At lunch, sure enough, she strollered it all the way to the restaurant. Crazy!
When not court reporting, how do you spend your free time?
Being a mom to four great kids and helping my husband run our restaurant, Nick’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers.

I have had the privilege to report President Bill Clinton, Colin Powell and Laura Bush during their visits to our state.
